Welcome to Room 11's blog. We are a group of year 6 children in Papakura, South Auckland, New Zealand. We are talented in all curriculum areas and very hard to beat at sports. This year we are digital learners who are trying to make our learning visible.

Tayla is Cybersmart
I learnt to be cybersmart. While being cybersmart, I learnt how to use the drawing tools in Google Draw. It was fun and exciting to take a snapshot and insert it into Google Draw.

Room 11 is Firewise
We have been learning about being Fire wise at home.
Some interesting things we found out were:
Smoke is fire.
Fire can be black.
We can get free smoke alarms installed in our homes.
One breath of poisonous fumes in a fire can knock us out and then kill us.
We need to make a safe meeting place with our family - this should be by the mail box.

The Gold Unicorn
There are numbers of gold unicorns around the Gold Coast, but they have been unheard of because of the missing gold.
A gold unicorn has the horn of a bull and a tail of gold magnetic coins. the tail is usually a rain drop shape pointed at the end and it sticks out as it walks. typically many are a stunning glistening turquoise colour which also shines out reflecting gold that looks like mirrors. furthermore they have a sharp horn made of the goldest star and their mane consists of twisty goldish hair. as a gold unicorn moves it blows out gold glittery glitter in circles.
While many unicorns are found in warm areas, the gold unicorns only live in big forests. it is known that they are not easily seen and are that they are scared. during the daytime, they work under gold leaves, trees or circles around bushes. however at night the gold unicorn over-sleeps and if you are very lucky ,can be seen in the reflections of gold mirrors.
Gold unicorns have an imaginary diet. in the main they live on sticks, mud and other vegetation. however they can be attracted to fruit. additionally some like to eat meat. be careful when you are next close to a gold unicorn because their horns can sound a loud alarm.
Unfortunately because gold unicorns have powerful curses in their horns, this has meant that they are in danger of extinction. their horns are ground down to a sticky paste which then can be used to put an awful spell on even the most selfish of all slave-drivers. over the past few years so many unicorns have been in danger that they have educated themselves to remain away from humankind.

I met Constable Dorris and she taught us about abuse and how to keep ourselves safe.
We have been talking about Current Events and learning about Storm Unicorns with Mrs Newton.
Kahurangi Room 11
This term I have enjoyed maths. I liked just working on the stuff I didn't know.
I liked playing Rippa Rugby and going to the tournament, even though it was cancelled.
We still played Cosgrove School twice and we won both games, without having a rest in between.

This term i have been learning how to sequence higher numbers and order decimals. The hardest part about this was ordering the decimals.
Ruqayyah Room 11
My learning so far this term by Ruqayyah (On the right)
This term I have been learning how to sequence decimals. The hardest part about this was understanding that it doesn't matter how many numbers are in the decimal - it may not mean that the decimal is a large number.
